This Privacy Policy describes how Shipify Ltd (“Shipify DLMP”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal data of users and visitors of Shipify DLMP’s website and platform (collectively, the “Website” / “DLMP Platform”). By using our Website or engaging with our services, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Who We Are

Shipify Ltd is the technology company that builds, hosts and operates Shipify DLMP, a pan-African Digital Logistics Marketplace. Through this Website and the DLMP Platform, we connect traders, logistics service providers, finance and insurance partners, and other stakeholders involved in cargo logistics across Africa.

Our Website provides information about Shipify DLMP, a knowledge base (FAQ), contact and demo-request forms, and links to the live Shipify DLMP application (where applicable).

2. What Data We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us (visiting the Website, filling a contact form, requesting a demo, registering as user/provider on Shipify DLMP, or using the Shipify DLMP application), we may collect the following categories of data:

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Name (individual or company)
  • Company name, business name, role/title (if acting on behalf of an organization)
  • Email address

  • Country, region, address (if required for services or registration)

  • Cargo- or shipment-related data (when creating cargo requests): e.g. cargo description, origin,      destination, weight/volume, value, required services, documentation details.
  • Any additional information submitted via contact/demonstration/registration forms, or during onboarding.

2.2 Usage & technical data

  • IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, time and date of access, pages accessed, collected automatically when you visit the Website.
  • Cookies or similar tracking technologies, if used (see Section 6).
  • For Shipify DLMP users/providers: metadata related to use of the platform (login timestamps, session information, user actions), as required for platform functionality,      tracking, auditing and service delivery.

3. Why We Collect Data & How We Use It

We collect and process data for the following purposes:

  • To provide access to the Website and Shipify DLMP Platform (onboarding, registration, service matching).
  • To respond to inquiries, demo requests, partnership or provider-onboarding requests.
  • To enable core Shipify DLMP functionality: cargo requests, quote matching, booking, tracking, documentation, payment/settlement workflows, communication between parties.
  • To maintain, operate and improve the Website and Platform: performance monitoring, security, usage analytics, design/feature improvements.
  • To verify identity and credentials of logistics providers, partners, and users.
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, compliance and due-diligence obligations (e.g. for cross-border trade, customs, insurance, finance).
  • To communicate with users: updates, notifications, support, account-related messages.
  • Where applicable: to facilitate embedded trade-finance or insurance services (in collaboration with third-party finance/insurance partners).

We will not use your personal data for purposes other than those described here without obtaining your consent (unless otherwise permitted by law).

We may share your personal data with the following categories of third parties, when necessary to deliver services or comply with obligations:

  • Verified service providers (transporters, freight-forwarders, warehouses, shipping agents, etc.), to enable logistics matching, shipment execution, and related supply-chain communications.
  • Finance and insurance partners, if you opt into trade-finance or cargo insurance services, to enable underwriting, financing, risk assessment, or insurance provisioning.
  • Regulators, customs agencies or government authorities, where required by law, regulation, cross-border trade procedures, or compliance audits.
  • Third-party service providers or subprocessors (e.g. hosting providers, cloud infrastructure, analytics services, payment processors), only when necessary to support our operations. These third parties are required to maintain confidentiality and to process data      only for the purposes we specify.
  • If required by law, or in response to legal requests (court orders, subpoenas, investigations).

We do not sell personal data to third parties, nor share it for marketing or unrelated third-party use without explicit consent.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal data only as long as needed to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected (onboarding, service delivery, record-keeping, compliance, etc.). Once data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it, unless we are legally required to retain it (e.g. for audit or regulatory purposes).

Shipify Ltd is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Notwithstanding where you access our Website, the data protection practices described in this Privacy Policy are governed by applicable local and international laws.

Where you reside in a jurisdiction with additional data protection requirements (e.g. GDPR for EU residents), we commit to honour relevant rights and standards as described herein.
